Stephanie Nicole Ella is one of those hit by stray bullets during New Year’s Eve. According to PNP, there were 40 reported incidents of indiscriminate firing during New year.
I am used to watching news about people who have been using these illegal fireworks and stuff. But I am greatly affected by the news about irresponsible firing. I followed this news about Stephanie.
Stephanie was just with her family while watching fireworks in Caloocan City during New Year’s eve. And after that incident, she suffered cardiac arrests that led to a coma. The reports showed pictures of her while in a coma. The family is pleading for the suspect to surrender. But they cannot point fingers to anybody.
And yesterday, I have watched the report that she already passed away.
According her family, she was a bright student and a joyful person. As I looked at their family pictures shown on TV, she seemed very happy with her relatives. She smiled in all the photos. I can’t help but feel dismay and great disappointment. Their family did not resort to any firecrackers, they were just watching the fireworks, and this happened ironically.
She could have lived a better life compared to those who did this to her.
I pray for the soul of Stephanie Nicole.
I also pray for her relatives. May God be with them at this time of grief. May justice be given not only to her, but also to the other victims.
And to those gun owners, have a heart. After firing one this New Year, do you deserve to at least own a gun?
