Use Halcyon in a Sentence :D

Posted on

The word for the day for my 1:30 to 3:00 class was halcyon (pronounced as hal-see-yhan)

It means:

1. calm; peaceful; tranquil: halcyon weather

2. rich; wealthy; prosperous: halcyon times of peace

3. happy; joyful; carefree: halcyon days of youth

4. of or pertaining to the halcyon or kingfisher

I blogged right away because I want to share what happened to me this day.

I asked my students to use it in sentences:

Student 1:      I like a halcyon place to study.

Z:                      Okay, another.

Student 2:     I hope that our country will be a halcyon place.

Z:                     Okay good. One more…

Student 3:    Ma’am, halcyon Friday.

And everyone laughed. :D :D

My First Airplane Ride

Posted on

Yeah! In my years of existence, it’s just now that I have ridden an airplane!

I was very excited to ride that plane. :)

My friends who were with me, Tophe, Virgel and Kimi. :D

Picture picture while waiting. :)

Supposed to be, my first time would have taken place if I have gone to Iloilo and joined my blogger friends there. But I was not able to join them due to some unavoidable circumstances.

Anyway, I was excited for my first ride in the airplane. At first, I was kinda scared. The plane was moving slowly and then it became fast when taking off! The feeling made me dizzy and I was holding on to my seat tightly. I couldn’t look at the window every time the plane makes a turn. It makes me feel dizzy more.

But after a while, I got used to it. I saw the clouds, it made me smile. That I was at the same level with them, or even higher than the clouds.

I was overwhelmed with the clouds. They were 'heavenly.'

I didn't sleep during the flight. I just looked at the things that I see below. Even if they hurt my eyes already. >_<

That was taken on our way home.

I am very pleased with the feeling of riding the plane. Although a bit scary, I would like to ride again and visit extravagant places.

And where have I gone during that vacation? I’ll tell you more about it in my next post. :D

At Puerto Princesa Airport. ^_^

‘Zen Encounters’ Turns ONE

Posted on

My Blog is already one year old.

Zen Encounters Turns 1 ♥

Honestly, I don’t know how will I celebrate this.

I don’t have money yet to give out contests to my co-blogger friends.

I am actually having a hard time right now. (The reason why I was not able to join my blogger friends in Iloilo, and my Sunday was wasted.) I am not happy. How ironic that I am posting a blog about anniversaries and stuff.

I’m sorry if I’ll make you sad in a way.I don’t intend to.

I’m currently at the office working. I am alone, have nothing to talk to. I am trying to look at the positive side of things but it’s hard as of the moment. But I’ll try.

* * * * *

Anyway, after one year, I was able to learn a lot in blogging. I was able to meet some friends who read my posts (Thank you very much) and bloggers who I really admire. I hope to really meet you soon. Let me mention some of them:

Again Happy Blog Anniversary to you my dear blog. May we share a lot of Encounters together.

Thank you, “Gawad Parangal”

Posted on

Thank you for this recognition. I am really happy. ♥

It was a Saturday when we drove going to De La Salle University Lipa to attend the Gawad Parangal by the Rotary Clubs of District 3820. The award aims to recognize social workers, and teachers who performs well in the workplace and in the community as well.

Juan and Me.. :) (We arrived REALLY early for the event.)

There are three categories the Gawad Parangal has recognized; the Social Workers, Elementary level, High School Level, and the College Level.

I am one of the seven outstanding teachers in the college level from the district.

Wow, I was in cloud nine! (District Governor Rey Castillo of RID 3820 handed the award.)

For every category, there is one hailed “Most Outstanding”. I knew before then that I won’t be chosen, given the fact that I’m still young, there are still more “senior” teachers than me who have rendered teaching and community service for a longer time. I salute them for that.

Just to be recognized by our sponsoring Rotary Club is already an honor for me.

Bro. Armin Luistro, DG Rey Castillo, the president of our Sponsoring Rotary Sir Mhon and Juan

Being a teacher in indeed a great profession, but more so for me because I am able to extend my talents more to the community.

I thank Sir Mhon, my RACSPE family, colleagues, family and my students. (Wow, mag speech ba?) :D   I don’t know, I am just happy for this.

Personal Notes

Of course, I would not have enjoyed much of that day without taking photos. Here are some of them.

We have travelled the Star Tollway very smoothly. And I love the pink girl display in the car.

I so love the scenery and this little girl display hanging. :)

When we arrived there, of course, I have to have a photo at the “Noli Me Tangere” building in De La Salle Lipa. I was not able to take a photo of the “El Filibusterismo” building. >_<

Noli Me Tangere Building

And for the first time, I have seen a building that has a whole pathway for the disabled, and that paves all the way to the top floor. Wow! (We walked that path but the elevator was working. So we took it instead. Kapagod kaya!)

The building has this pathway for the disabled from the first to the rooftop. :)

And when the three of us were finally home, we agreed to sip some coffee at where?? Of course, Starbucks, with some of my Rotaractor friends.

Thony, Asel, Carlo, Sir Mhon, Juan and me.. ♥

Juan, Me, Thony, Asel and Gucci. :D

And that was indeed a happy day. Haay. Thank you po Lord. ♥
